"We are converting 150,000 plastic bottles that were headed for the ocean into 5,000 backpacks for kids in crisis. That's the Kids and Planet Project." - Toni

Oceanbags Foundation, Inc. is an Austin-based nonprofit organization, home to eco-friendly bags and backpacks. We are an ever-growing family of ordinary people who believe that when one of us risks a step toward another, it creates momentum, and so we partner with other nonprofits to make our world a better place.

Our Wave of Good

Our mission is to discover effective nonprofit organizations and partner with them for a positive impact in the communities they serve. We are a 501(c)3 corporation. Our funds come from product sales and donations which are fully tax-deductible.

How the Wave Works

--through eco-friendly products

Oceanbags are made from certified Ocean Bound Plastics or “OBP”. This means they are collected from land-based sources before they pollute the oceans. The certifying agency for OBP is Zero Plastics Oceans, based in Paris, France.

Our product supply chain is audited and ecologically sourced at every possible step. Plus, for every product sold, a mangrove tree is planted. Mangroves are the super-heroes of carbon mitigation.

--by supporting underprivileged students

One Oceanbag backpack is donated for every bag sold. Our donated backpacks are of the same quality and material as those available from our store, functional bags that last a lifetime. Donations are made through our local "Partners for Good" based on need.

--other initiatives

Oceanbags Foundation supports various initiatives, such as the one-room schoolhouse serving 80 children in the village of Tridibnagar, Jharkhali, in the Sundarbans region of West Bengal, India. We personally visited the remote region, witnessed the need for additional classrooms and toilets, and pledged to address this need. We always work through established local nonprofits, in this case, the good people of the Prameya Foundation.

Our Team is overseen by our Board of Directors. Full-time staff member, Zane Haas, is Director of Operations, and the rest of us are volunteers.
